| With standard-definition TVs, the rule used to be that viewers would feel comfortable watching a set from a distance of 3 to 6 times the screen size in inches. With HDTV, the resolution is so much better that you can sit closer to a larger TV without noticing the pixels. So with HDTVs, the rule tends to be you can sit anywhere from 1.5 to 3 times the screen size (in inches) for the best experience. If you know the size of the room you have already, where you want to sit, and where your new HDTV should go once you get it, you can figure out the size HDTV you should get. - Minimum size = Viewing distance/3

| I've had this TV installed for a couple weeks. It was easy setup although upon first look it was not quite what I expect. That is 100% attributed to the fact that I didn't purchase any HDMI cables so I had to hook up my HDMI cable box from time warner using RCA cables. Let me tell you the picture is pretty bad if you aren't using HDMI cables. Once I bought those the next hurdle I had was Time Warner's HDMI channels were unviewable, they kept blinking on/off and was really strange. It wasn't until I called Time Warner and had them resync my cable box that everything came to life. Wholly canolies what a difference. CBS, NBC, Discovery... all the HDMI channels were awesome. It then took me an hour plus to go to all my DVR recordings and change from regular tv to HDMI channels. Even a basic news reports is dang near spectacular viewing via Hi Def. I have watched a few Netflix movies and DVD movies utilizing the 1080P up-convert on my DVD player and it is quite awesome however in comparison to my buddies Blue Ray player it's not quite the same. That being said I have no complaints at all, the TV looks great! I did purchase a new LG surround sound system to support the Fiber Optic Audio output being that the TV has just has adequate audio. The presets on video are good and the video wizard to help setup the video for your specific environment is good. For $800, no tax, free shipping and "same as cash financing" (with signing up for an Amazon card) I'm very pleased with this TV. Usually a purchase of this size brings buyers remorse but I'm still stoked :-) |

UPDATE: MY TV STOPPED WORKING just 5 days after I received, I believe a got a defective unit, since nobody reported anything so far. It doesn't power at all, I called LG and they are sending someone to fix it, I would prefer an exchange but LG didn't offer that option. So I can no longer recommend this model. Depending of how LG handles my reparation I will update this review.

I just received this TV an I'm very excited about it. I will add more to my review after I play a few Xbox 360 and PS3 games and watch more movies .
Just a few things I notice.
-What i like the most about this set is the Picture Wizard II feature, It help you to calibrate the picture of your TV, everybody can do ti, It will improve the color accuracy, It really works.
-GAMERS, enable the game mode, it turns off all video filters and enhancement (intended for movies not games) that may delay your controller response, making the time between the moment you press a button to the time your character reacts, shorter. (you will notice his playing FIFA or guitar hero where a tiny delay is the difference between scoring or not) also on your xbox 360/ps3, go to settings video output, select 1080p. (if the video output, and screen native resolution match, it will save a few milliseconds of response time since the upscaling is eliminated)
-TruMotion 120Hz makes movies look really smooth, IIt make movies look like video, not film, no everybody like the effect, . but you can disable it.

| So I have only recently bought the TV so take this with a grain of salt but I am very pleased with the TV. It was extremely easy to set up and the picture quality is great. I took a very long time to decide on a TV and finally went with this one bc it had everything i was looking for in a TV for a great price. All in all I think its a great TV for the price and you really cant go wrong with this product. |

I got a steal of a deal on this TV @ $700 from another vendor. I'm only using it to watch Bluray movies in beautiful 1080P, being driven off my PC with the VGA (15 pin) cable. I don't even have it hooked up to cable TV, though I am tempted now to get HDTV. The movies look absolutely incredible! The interface for the onscreen controls are very easy to use, though I haven't made any adjustments from the defaults.
One tip I have for people looking to play large (8GB+) MKV files stutter-free is to try KM Player. |
